Left this a bit late, must try harder!
Over the last year I've found a few great projects from people doing 52 or 365 projects consisting primarily of self portraits. I've added a couple of these to my contacts on Flickr so that I see see where these projects lead the twisted minds that are required to come up with some of the images. My favourites are Mr Flibble and Gary Chapman, the first ended up doing a 720 project (the nutter) and Gary unfortunately hit the photographers equivalent of writers block and ended his project prematurely.
With the images in mind I decided to have a go at my own self portrait with a difference, and this is the result. This week has really been a steep learning curve in so many ways, and by this week, I mean Sunday afternoon!
I only came up with the idea for this shot on Saturday afternoon, but thinking I'd have plenty of time on Sunday, did nothing. I was out in the morning I didn't actually get started until 3pm. Taking all the photos went well enough, although as I was editing the picture I found so many issues with it I wanted to start again, but didn't have time. A couple of examples are the reflection from the original white frame insert that can be seen on the top of the drawers and the crudely filled in frames (See original size and you'll see what I mean) because I forgot to take a base image with black inserts. Some things were an after thought, and I mean after I packed away my studio light and tripod and put my bedroom back together.
I'm pleased with the outcome despite all this, but if I did it again there is so much I would do differently. I've included a 'Making of' compilation image below, it was quite fun doing it and it certainly made my girlfriend laugh as she watched me struggle.
Since uploading the image I've had over 200 views, 75 comments and 11 favorites on Flickr, it's a personal best for me!
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, I hope you like what you see and take the time to stop by again.
